A Future of Work that Works for Women



When we think of future of work, we mostly tend to think of automation including robots and Artificial Intelligence taking over our current jobs, while forgetting the importance of social inclusion and gender inclusion in the workforce. The overemphasis on automation and the prospect for loss of jobs by technology has overshadowed other factors that are transforming the labour market as we know it to be.

As discussed in the article "A Future of Work that Works for Women", factors such as requirement for new skills because of digitalisation, as well as changing demographics globally will be affecting how we perceive and carry out work significantly in a near future is examined. According to their collected evidence, the findings imply that all these changes in our workforce will have unique implications for promoting gender equality and especially women empowerment, which is critical. (Florito, 2020) 

Florito is describing his worries regarding the fact that automation and digitalisation are likely to have different consequences on men and women, according to collected data and research. This lack of awareness perpetuates women's exclusion in the job market and worsens the already existing inequalities regarding social inclusion in the general workforce globally. By grasping this, we humans should remind ourselves and remember to look after one another and the people we already have around us, and appreciate each individual's knowledge and skills rather than worrying too much about robots and the fear of unknowns.
